Cervical problems

As well as specialising in vulval disorders, Claire is a gynaecologist who is experienced in colposcopy and managing abnormal cervical smear tests. Some women find having a cervical smear test painful and distressing. Claire is an expert at supporting women to enable them to have cervical screening.

If you have an abnormal smear test, a colposcopy assessment of the cervix is indicated. Claire will explain your smear result in detail, perform a colposcopy assessment and guide you through management. She can discuss the role for Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) medical treatments as well as the HPV vaccination.

If you have an abnormal smear result, where possible we try to arrange a video consultation prior to coming in for a colposcopy examination. This allows you to meet Claire beforehand and gives the opportunity to raise questions or concerns. This way, we find that patients feel less anxious about a colposcopy procedure.
